TWO ROADS

Vintage French Three-Panel Folding Screen – Battle of Rocroi, c. 1920s

$ 1,495.00

A striking vintage French three-panel folding screen dating to approximately the 1920s, featuring a large historic battle scene depicting the Battle of Rocroi of 1643.

The central composition presents a detailed bird’s-eye view of the battlefield, surrounded by an elaborate decorative cartouche and military motifs. The warm sepia-toned imagery is set against a muted mint-green ground with printed rope-and-bead style border detailing.

The Battle of Rocroi was a major French victory over the Spanish Habsburg army during the Thirty Years’ War, led by the young Duc d’Enghien, later known as the Grand Condé.

A wonderfully decorative piece with strong Old World character, equally appealing as a traditional dressing screen, architectural accent, or large-scale decorative backdrop.
