TWO ROADS

American Federal Mahogany Chest of Drawers, Circa 1800

$ 4,800.00

A fine American Federal period chest of drawers dating to approximately 1795–1810, reflecting the transition from late Chippendale to early Federal design. Crafted in rich mahogany with beautifully aged patina, this four-drawer chest features graduated drawers, original-style brass bail pulls with oval escutcheons, and classic bracket feet.

The chest is constructed with hand-cut dovetail joinery and secondary woods typical of the period, including pine and poplar. The top retains a warm, softly glowing surface with natural wear consistent with over two centuries of use. The interior drawers show honest age, with wide boards and visible tool marks that speak to its early American craftsmanship.
