Early 20th Century Landscape Oil on Canvas, by American Master, Chauncey Foster Ryder (1868 - 1949) who was a prominent and successful post impressionist tonalist artist. (Dimensions: 28 1/2" x 32 1/2" Set in a 4" Gilt Wood Frame)

In Chauncey Foster Ryder's early years, he studied at the Art Institute in Chicago. In 1901, he moved to Paris and was accepted at the acclaimed Academie Julien. From 1903 to 1909, his paintings were admitted to the annual Paris Salon. During his time in Paris, the prestigious MacBeth Gallery in New York began to represent his works. Ryder moved back to American and lived between NYC and his weekend home in New Hampshire. He traveled extensively painting, especially in New England.

He is best known for his atmospheric landscape paintings with his soft blended tones and rich layered pigments. His works are represented in very important private and public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Art. This Farm Landscape painting was previously in the Newark Museum American Art Collection.
